What is the difference between film and digital?

Film photography uses traditional photographic film and darkroom printing, which gives an organic, timeless look with natural grain. Digital uses modern cameras and computer editing for immediate results. Both make beautiful images; the choice comes down to your taste and how you want the photographs to feel.

Do I get the original negatives?

Yes. The Artisan and Signature film collections include your developed negatives in branded archival sleeves. Most film photographers keep negatives for reprint revenue; here you own the complete record.

Why fewer images with film?

Large and medium format film is deliberate by nature. A 4x5 film holder carries two exposures, and a roll of 120 yields 4 to 12 frames depending on format. Each setup takes time: leveling the camera, focusing, metering, composing. Fewer frames, each one considered.

How long until I receive my photographs?

Digital collections: 2 to 3 weeks. Film collections: 4 to 6 weeks, since development and darkroom printing take time. Rush processing is available for an additional fee.

Can I print the digital files?

Yes. Every collection includes a generous personal use license: print at home or at a lab, share online, and give as gifts. Commercial use needs a separate license.

Can I have both prints and digital files?

Yes. The Artisan Film Collection lets you choose prints or scans, and both can be added for an additional fee. The Signature Collection includes both.
